Short answers to the things people usually ask.
About this project
Not at the moment. Marie Lou Coffee is a private craft roasting project. I don't have the certification yet to sell roasted coffee to the public in Germany, so what I roast goes to friends, family, and people who reach out. If you'd like to try a bag, send me a message.
It means I'm doing this seriously but not commercially. I'm not registered as a roastery, I don't take payments, and I'm not advertising. It sits somewhere between a deep hobby and the early version of a real roastery.
Probably. I'm working on the legal and certification side, and I'd like to do this properly when I can. There is no fixed timeline. When the shop opens, the people on the mailing list will hear first.
About the coffee
I buy green coffee through a small set of fair-trade importers I've researched and trust. Origins rotate, but they mostly come from Ethiopia, Colombia, and Brazil at the moment. Whatever is in the roaster right now is on the homepage.
Very. I roast a few kilos at a time, and what goes out is usually less than a week old. There is a roast date on every bag.
Airtight container, room temperature, away from light. Don't refrigerate, don't freeze. Drink it within four to six weeks of roasting if you can. That is when it tastes best.
Getting a bag
Send me a message through the contact page. Tell me what you usually drink, how much you go through, and roughly when you'd want it. I'll reply with what is currently in the roaster.
Since I'm not selling commercially, there is no fixed price. Most people give me what they think is fair to cover the green beans and the time. We sort it out by message.
If you're in Munich, hand-off is easy. Within Germany I can usually arrange a small package. International is unlikely right now.
Still have a question?
Easiest way to reach me is the contact form. I usually reply within a day or two.
